Deluxe Krobo bead necklace built around a beautiful millifiore trade bead focal. These trade beads, which were usually made in Italy or Holland, were brought to Africa by Europeans to be used as currency. They have become increasingly valuable and hard to get over time, with necklaces of mostly old trade beads now costing hundreds of dollars. Single beads of this size and quality are frequently sold for anywhere between $20.00 & $120.00. This necklace is typical of a more recent trend among the Krobo people in that it combines one long trade bead (or sometimes several smaller ones) with more recently-made Krobo hand-painted powdered glass beads. This necklace measures approximately 26". Coordinating earrings are available on request.
